To make you a better and more competent and self sufficient angler. To make fly fishing easy, approachable, and less intimidating. .

I grew up in Reston, Virginia. I had a warm water lake across the street and beaver ponds in my back yard. My time was spent time after school and on vacations fishing on the lake and along the nearby creeks. My dad would take my brother and me to the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers on weekends where we would fish for smallmouth bass. All of my grandparents lived in Florida. My vacations were based around fishing coral reefs for jacks and what ever else would bite and golf course canals for monster largemouth bass.

Spinning and bait fishing was my childhood background. I didn't pick up a fly rod until 5th grade or so (1987). It was my brother's rod. The first time I used it I broke it and from then on it was mine. I still fish it to this day. My dad started taking me to the Blue Ridge Mountains where I learned to fish for brook trout. I got my drivers license in 1993 and began to drive to the middle Potomac river and nearby office park ponds after school. In the summer of 1993 I went on a trip to Ecuador. One of my fellow travelers had a fly rod and got me to focus my interests from spin and bait to fly. He also got me interested in entomology.

I went to college in Fredericksburg, VA in the summer of 1995. It was on the Rappahannock river where I was introduced to tidal and anadromous species such as shad and striped bass. I fished the spring runs for these fish and fished the summers above town for smallies. After college I began working for the local Orvis store and that is where my life changed. Since July 1999 I have dedicated my life to fly fishing. It has changed who I am in almost every aspect.

My solo career in fly fishing began in the winter of 2006. In the summer of 2010 I left corporate life to pursue fly fishing as the focus of my career. Instead of wearing a suit and tie to work, I wear flip flops and shorts or waders. For more information, please read below.
